I don’t know if you saw the last post with my notes on Twitter. But, if you haven’t check it out. Essentially, if you follow the notes written, you’ll get at least one new Twitter follower a day. Not bad.

Arbitrage on the internet Part 2

Another form of arbitrage on the internet can be found with products. Essentially, in this case, you will buy something for a low price and sell it to someone at a higher price. We see this every day in the real world. For example, someone may trade in their car for $5,000 and the dealer resells it for $7,000.

So, how is it done on the internet? Well, you could potentially buy something during a one time sale of say 30% off. Then, you can resell it for 20% more on sites like eBay or Craigslist. Make sense. The key here though is to make sure you’re not holding the ball. In some cases, you can actually list your product for sale before you even buy it. This way, if no one buys the product, you don’t actually purchase the original product.

About.com defines it as the following:

“The opportunity to buy an asset at a low price then immediately selling it on a different market for a higher price.”

So, the question is, what does this have to do with the internet. As a web developer for many years, I should know how this is used on the internet, but, I don’t so I’m learning right now.

Here are some different ways arbitrage is done on the internet:

Click arbitrage – You buy traffic where it’s cheap, then figure out a way to redirect the traffic to someone that will pay for it. Sound familiar? How about Google Adsense? In this case, someone pays Google to show an ad, whether it’s on your site or on the search engine. In this case, the big winner is Google because people are paying Google for their traffic that they are redirecting to their own site. Another technique is to pay Google for your traffic and redirect that traffic to another site, maybe advertisers on your site, or affiliate marketing advertisers. The benefit of course comes from the difference you pay for traffic versus the amount of money you make from affiliate marketing advertisers or banners.
CPA Arbitrage – This is similar to click arbitrage. Think about it, almost any type of arbitrage has to be based off of user actions like clicks. Here, your site or ads are designed to send someone to an affiliate marketing advertiser that will pay you a commission for someone buying, CPA (Click Per Action) something from their site. This is by far probably the most lucrative aspect. For example, if you can drive traffic at lets say $10 which causes someone to buy something which pays you a $20 commission, you’re making a $10 profit. Because the internet is so predominant these days, the affect of this can be enormous. If you’re good enough, $1000 can net you another $1000. Not bad.

We recently launched AffiliateMarketingTop10.com. Why? Because it’s nice to have someone step you through the process. But, it’s a pain in the butt trying to sift through all of the hooplah about everyone’s program and why they’re the best.

So, we put the site together to do a comparison of the affiliate marketing training guides and coaches out there. If you’re interested, I’d definitely check it out. I found some similarities among all of the programs and some great big price differences. It was pretty informative to step back and look at what everyone was actually training and how much it costs.

Ok, for years, I’ve programmed, run my own company, consulted, essentially tried every aspect of programming. What I’ve come to realize is that, as a programmer, there are mainly 2 ways to make more money. One, increase your hourly rate, or 2, work more hours. Well, I always like to go for option 1. But, there reaches a point where you plateau at a certain rate. So, what do you do next.

Well, I’ve been looking to find what I call a scalable option. What do I mean. Well, I’d like to build something once, then have it earn money for me over time, forever. Sounds cool right. Well, from what I can tell it does exist. But, I have to admit, I haven’t mastered it yet.

The key I’ve found that could be the answer is affiliate marketing. If structured correctly, this could be a one time setup and long term income. The cool thing is that the amount of technical knowledge necessary is low. After all, the programming to do the sites for an affiliate marketing campaign is simple HTML, so we could probably do this in our sleep now. So, the amount of new knowledge that must be gained comes in the form of tracking and analyzing statistics.

So, I went out looking for a solution. What I found immediately is that affiliate marketing courses cover all types of topics, Twitter, PPC, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, SEO, etc. In addition, the costs are all over the board, some high, some low. And, you don’t know which one to use. Why? Well, each one of the programs is trying to sell you. And of course they’re all making millions of dollars (at least that’s what they claim.)

Therefore, I set up a new site www.affiliatemarketingtop10.com. Why? Well, I wanted a site where I could and everyone else could compare, and review these programs. A solution for all of us that want to learn, but don’t want to spend a ton of cash trying to figure it out. So, if you’re interested in learning a little more, and seeing a comparison, check it out. Black Hat SEO and a new world

I’ve been having difficulty trying to figure out how the entire affiliate marketing thing works. It takes a lot of time, there are no shortcuts. But, every time I’m spending an hour or so trying to get a couple more links or write an article, I think to myself, there must be an easier way.

I did some looking around and I found black hat seo. I’ve read a couple of articles now and it’s brought some light to my eyes. For example, there are ways that you don’t have to write your own content, or maybe I can create my own sites to create links for me.

The latest thing I’ve discovered are content databases. The concept is that you can buy or find a database or database table that contains some simple information in it, like artist songs. The idea is you take this table of information and create a simple website that creates hundreds or thousands of pages. In my first attempt, I have a website with over 19,000 pages. It took me a while (week at night) to do the first one, and I’m almost complete. Then on each page, put a link or two to your pages. If you are able to get a listing of all the pages on your other sites, you can essentially put an entire sitemap of links for several sites onto this site. In addition, you can point to your affiliate sites. Heck, I even put those sitemaps on the pages. So, now, I have links to pages that point to my affiliate programs. And, in addition, have links that point to sites, that then point to my affiliate program sites.

It’s really pretty cool. I haven’t quite mastered it yet, but I’m learning. I’ll fill you in on more as it arises.

MarketLeverage Overview and video, and my first introduction…great

After starting to learn more about affiliate marketing, I ran across MarketLeverage.com after cruising some of the forums. Had heard some good things as well. So, I signed up to see what they had to offer. I signed up late at night Sunday and Monday, they called me and sent an email.

I followed up with Katryna at Market Leverage. Pleasure to speak with her, very helpful. She asked me a couple of questions, had to make sure I was legit. After about 2 minutes of talking she gave me some hints on which affiliate programs were working for their publishers. Wow, I’ve only been talking to them for a couple of minutes and I’m learing something. She signed me up guided me through some of the next steps and followed up with an email detailing my publisher contact. Pretty cool. Awesome experience, professional, to the point, and knowledgeable.

Tonight, I signed into the site and looked around. They have some pretty good programs. The payouts are high, try $42 high. I’m sold, contacting my publisher contact tomorrow to check out any more tips.

Had a little more time and investigated them a little more. Well, found out, they have MarketLeverageTV for their publishers. The videos are excellent. Each video gives some highlights of new vendors and a recap of the latest news. Feels like I have my own station. Anyone looking to just learn about affiliate marketing would enjoy them just for the content.
